Nicola viene arrestato e chiede a Cosimo Bonavita di prendere in custodia le sue terre che continua a coltivare abusivamente. Lo Stato le confisca e le assegna ad una cooperativa che, per cavilli burocratici, non è in grado di avviare l'attività . In loro aiuto viene mandato Filippo, che lavora da anni in ufficio per un'associazione anti-mafia.
